Liahona Olayan

Liahona Olayan, along with her brother, Ammon Olayan, is a Hawaiian brother-sister duo who is competing for the title of the American Idol 2021. They both did a duet performance on the stage and impressed everyone including the judges but going forward, they will need to compete against each other and individual performers.

Liahona Olayan Early life

Liahona is about 17 years old, making her birthday being in the year 2003. She was raised in a big but happy home with a total of 7 little brothers and sisters by her loving mother who was an estate broker and her father who is an investor. In their family, it is believed that family is always first and the more the family, the bigger the blessings, therefore, in 2015, her parents quit their job to leave behind a life in Utah so that their children would be able to connect to the land of their heritage so that they can become an even closer family.

For all the siblings and parents, it was a really dramatic and life-changing experience. They went to the land of Hawaii with just their suitcases and a desire to be free from this busy world that they were living in. Her family started living in a tent, with no electricity and they had to shower with a water hose. They didn’t have a TV or any music to listen to. Thus, they started raising different animals including 33 chickens, goats, etc. They started milking goats, ate fruits from the trees, and caught fish as well as went to the beach and spent a lot of time together. It seems that Olayan’s family has moved back to Utah. She is relatively young and it is pretty normal for her to be attending a high school right now.

Olayan’s brother Ammon started writing songs and story-telling because he didn’t have anything else to do and his father told him to do something like writing a song or sing. Soon, they both starting performing together as a duet and in the year 2021, gave an audition on the big stage of the American Idol 2021. Their first audition song is a song that was originally composed by them and it is fun to listen to and gives out a really positive vibe and energy. Going forward, it could get a bit complicated for the sibling duo as they will both need to compete against each other in the competition.

By the looks of it, it is clear that Liahona is better at vocals than Ammon. She has this tone and range that really makes her a suitable fit for pop radio. Her brother, on the other hand, has a good voice but there seems to be a natural shyness when it comes to him. We will be seeing a lot of Olayan Liahona on the big stage of the American Idol 2021 as she has a really beautiful and energetic voice that wins the hearts of everyone including the judges. She will surely be a tough competitor going forward.

Showstopper Round

Liahona came back on stage in the Showstopper round in American Idol and took her singing skills to a whole new level. She performed Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too” and also danced along with beautiful smile in order to bring a new life in the song. With her performance Katy literally screamed and said,

“When I was laying it down the other day, I was upset. I was really upset because if there’s a conversation in your head that says, ‘I’m not enough, I can’t compete with these big voices, I’m not good enough without my brother — that’s not real. And I think the sooner that you flip a switch in your mind, the sooner that all the doors open up for you.”

Luke officially made announcement to welcome her in the Top 24 club in the competition. He added,

“We want the best for you because we feel like you have a lot to contribute to music”
