Production Details
In May 2023, Guy Ritchie announced that he would write and direct the film, with international sales handled by Black Bear International at the Cannes Film Market. Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González, who had previously collaborated with Ritchie, were confirmed as starring in the project. The production team includes Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg as producers alongside Ritchie. The film began production in September 2023 on Tenerife, Canary Islands, and wrapped in late October 2023. Filming locations included the Real Casino de Tenerife in Plaza de la Candelaria, San Andrés, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and areas like the fishing dock and Las Teresitas beach.

Release
In October 2023, Lionsgate acquired the U.S. distribution rights for In the Grey. Initially scheduled for release on January 17, 2025, Lionsgate removed the film from its release calendar in November 2024 due to unfinished post-production work.
For international distribution, Black Bear International handled sales, with direct distribution planned for the United Kingdom and Ireland, and in Canada through Elevation Pictures.
